For Klingele, sustainability is about having a long-term corporate perspective and assuming responsibility for the environment, community and our employees. As a family company, founded more than 100 years ago, and manufacturer of ecological products, sustainability is one of our firmly established principles and part of our corporate policy.
This means we apply the principle of sustainability to our entire value chain with real, concrete measures - from our choice of machines, materials and components to how we deliver our packaging to the customer:
We also believe sustainability involves helping our customers implement their own strategies for process optimisation and resource and energy efficiency. Take a look at what we do – and don’t hesitate to ask questions!
For the production of our corrugated board and corrugated board packaging, starch is used in addition to the most important raw material, paper, to glue the individual paper layers together. If the corrugated board is printed and sealed during further processing, printing inks and glue are also used. Some of the starch can be reused in the subsequent recycling process for the production of waste paper-based papers. On the other hand, glue and printing ink, as well as any non-paper components such as plastics or mineral components that may have been introduced via the waste paper, cannot be recycled. These are sorted out by the paper mills and where possible, sent for thermal recycling. The corrugated board or corrugated cardboard packaging we produce is considered recyclable according to PTS method RH 021-97 and can thus be classified accordingly under the Packaging Act on the basis of its main component, paper
